~Simulation and Modelling~
hey friends...do you know about simulation and modelling?..
At school ,teacher always use this way to help the student to understand some concept in learning process especially in science concept.
Simulation and Modelling is activity that can contribute to a successful and highly enjoyable exercise. It engage students by placing them directly into conflict of the real situation.
From my experiences after conducted the simulation and modelling, I think it is another ways to help students more understand about science concept in teaching and learning process. In simulation presentation,our group was showed about " Human Breathing"... It is very interesting because we can see the changes in our diaphragm,ribs and also explain the mechanism involve in our breathing. From this simulation, it also helping student to understand the whole process involve in inhale and exhale. I hope this tool can help the student to memorize the process in breathing system.
Modelling is other interactive way to improve the student understanding in class. In modelling tool, student will be understand the concept by using the model. My group was presented about "osmosis". In this topic we were discuss about 3 types of solution are hypotonic, hypertonic and isotonic solution. Each solution have different concentration. In this model,student can change the concentration of solution (salt or water) and observe what happen to the cell if we put it in this solution.
So....from the presentation,what is the advantage use of simulation and modelling in teaching and learning? The advantage of this method are:
a) student has opportunity to repeated the experiment to practice their clinical skills.
b) student actually engage in the learning process rather that passive receiver of knowledge.
c) It is similar with our life experience.
d) its also help student to more understand the whole process in their teaching and learning process.

Data Logger

now...we go step by step to understand what is DATA LOGGER...
Data logger an electronic device that records data over time or in relation to location either with a built in instrument or sensor or via external instruments and sensors. The reading the transferred into computer.
Our next assignment is application of data logger in sciences experiment at school. Our group was discuss about "global warming"...we use temperature sensor to detect the effect of temperature that causes of global warming. By using temperature sensor, we can see the changes of temperature between 2 different air ( atmosphera and carbon dioxide) at the same time. The other advantage by using the data logger are :
- Data loggers vary between general purpose types for a range of measurement applications to very specific devices for measuring in one environment or application type only
- Has an ability to automatically collect data on a 24-hour
- New innovative experiment possible
- Greater experience in practical work- the insulating properties of material
- Better understanding on how it works.
But....data logger also have the disadvantage
-loss of conventional method of data collection
- The cost is quit expensive
- Reducing practice of graphing and drawing skill
INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD (IWB)
What is IWB stands for? IWB is the short form for Interactive White Board.
IWB an interactive whiteboard is a piece of hardware that looks much like a standard whiteboard but it connects to a computer and a projector in the classroom to make a very powerful tool. When connected, the interactive whiteboard becomes a giant, touch-sensitive version of the computer screen.
Ever you all heard about this before?
I never heard or use IWB before this. But when Dr. Sofia shown to us on how the interactive white board look like, I think that it was quit interesting for me. We can touch the screen and use the pen other tool that provided in IWB. We are so lucky because our instructor giving us opportunity to use the IWB. we also apply the IWB in our presentation. From my first experience using the IWB, is not easy to use this technology. We must practice to use this tool and familiar with this function of IWB.
From my opinion,I think it is very interesting ways to attract student to love in Sciences and Technology.The advantage that we get from this technology (IWB)are :
a) we can enhance any presentation or lesson by easily integrating video, animation,graphics, text and audio with the spoken presentation.
b) we can controlling the PC from the white board using click and drag.
c)we can capturing and saving note written on whiteboard to the connected PC
